Final Submission

The following is my final submission for Get Schooled; A Student's Guide to Surviving the College Application Process. This experience has presented challenges that have opened my eyes to the immensely impressive industry that is the magazine business.
This finalized version of the cover of Get Schooled includes all of the same elements from my quarter three submission. It has the burgundy color scheme that has grown to be the main recognizable part of Get Schooled, along with the image of the Harvard boathouse that relates in color. The captions throughout the cover are distributed so that there is still a vision of the sky, showing that "the sky is the limit" and representing further the point of my magazine. However, there is not enough empty space that it makes my cover appear empty or insufficient. The cover turned out to be perfect in the way that it portrays my theme while still maintaining a visually appealing look and feel.

After much revision throughout my magazine creation process, I have created a perfect table of contents that outlines the most intriguing features in my magazine, as well as shows the images that demonstrate the ora of my magazine, and the color scheme that continues throughout Get Schooled.  
This two-page article includes a great compromise between photographs and text. The article is appealing to the eye, with the burgundy text for the interviewee's name, questions, and the website tag in the bottom left corner. The black text for the candidate's answers adds to the professional aspect of Get Schooled, and the images included allow for some differentiation between the plain white background (used for monetary purposes) and the burgundy splashes of color. 

This final page of the four pages I have submitted includes again, a nice balance of color and text information. This allows for the magazine to maintain a stereotypical magazine article feel while also including challenged conventions such as the difference in color between the interview questions and interview answers, as well as the colored page numbers.

Three Revisions

I have now uploaded the updated versions of all four of my original pages. My three primary revisions included changing the color of my title and all other major texts, such as my table of contents, the name of my interviewee Charles Karcher in my two-page article, and the "Application Season Issue" subtitle that illustrates the importance of this specific issue. The much needed change in color has provided a nice alternative element to my magazine that represents a more diverse and interesting environment as opposed to the very unexceptional black and white draft that I first created. By adding a nice, dark, yet professional crimson red, it not only further elevated the visual appeal of my magazine, but it also drew a further connection between the prestigious Harvard University by using their signature color as my main theme. Target Audience Research Teen Vogue

Teen Vogue Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue, The New Yorker, Wired, GQ, and Allure, publishes Teen Vogue.  The magazine is targeted for teenage girls between the ages of twelve and seventeen. It was first introduced to teens when the first issue was published in 2003, featuring Gwen Stefani. About 3.6 million readers are audience to the print magazines, including subscriptions and newsstands. The online website also generates an impressive audience. Social media accounts for 22.98% of website visits, proving that social media is a large part of the revenue of Teen Vogue. However, display advertising only accounts for 0.44% of website traffic, proving that teens prefer to search for websites or be referred to them by social media, specifically Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit. Reoccurring Features

The sections that will appear in every issue will consist of "Wise words from an educator," "Ten Majors Worthy of Consideration" and "How To Be Successful." "Wise Words from an Educator" will contain a new interview with an educator every issue, containing advice not only for managing high school, but also for college. This will be helpful for all students working on getting their high school and college diplomas, but especially the wide range of students who plan to become educators themselves. By gaining knowledge from educators of all backgrounds and ages, my readers will be able to gain insight into what it really takes to become a teacher or professor.
