It includes my cover draft, table of contents, and two page article. I am very enthusiastic regarding how the cover turned out, and I intend to add more color and photos to my table of contents and article when I am revising. Get Schooled is coming together!

I recently conducted my interview that will be covered on my two paged article. It was with a high school senior who manages his time fantastically. He manages to compete in Speech and Debate and excel in his field of Lincoln Douglas Debate (he is nationally ranked), as well as work ten to fifteen hours a week at Panera Bread, and participate in Eagle Scouts. His GPA is well maintained and impressive, and he is currently looking into prestigious colleges such as Georgetown and The New School. He is ranked nationally for debate, and manages to find time to compete in tournaments nearly every weekend, while still maintaining his school workload. He is currently ranked 60th in the nation out of approximately 1,000 debtors. My interview with him revealed what it takes to be a high school senior with high hopes and an incredibly busy schedule. I have chosen this picture for my cover because not only is it a beautiful picture I took when I was in Boston, Massachusetts, but it also overlooks the Harvard University boathouse. This represents the collegiate aspect of my magazine, as well as the successes that are deemed possible and feasible if you take the advice granted to you through the magazine. "Get Schooled" is a fun, yet informative piece of literature that will enable my readers to go on to be intelligent and well prepared college students. This picture is perfect to portray my message because of its beauty and charm that will undoubtedly draw attention to it, but also because of the fantastic colors, and, of course, the Harvard boathouse with the signature crimson roof that shows the excitement that corresponds with the endless possibilities that the college application process allows. In order to create a magazine that will please my audience and ensure my magazine will come across the way I want it to come across, I need a name that expresses the message I am trying to convey. My current list of ideas includes the following: -Student Life -The Beginning of the Rest of Your Life -Preparation is Key -Are You Ready For It? -Prepare, Preempt, Prosper -Your Next Step -Get Schooled -The Beginning of Everything -College, Coping, Creating -Coping with College -Coping with College (a high schooler's guide to all things college) -Preparing for Preparation (getting ready for college which will get you ready for the rest of your life) -Commit, College, Create -Commit and Create Of these names, I there are a few standouts. Since my magazine is primarily directed toward high school students and hopeful college applicants, my photos with consist of high school students who are participating in extracurriculars, or just school in general. I have opportunities to photograph theatre students, debate competitors, as well as student athletes. I think that in order to convey what I want to convey through my magazine, I need to photograph and interview multiple types of students, from all of the main high school extracurriculars. Therefore, I plan to photograph and interview a nationally ranked debate competitor, athletes from a team with seven consecutive state champions as well as world class athletes, and students who manage to balance school and work, or, in other cases, the performing arts and school. I plan to photograph different students participating in a variety of extracurricular activities and jobs. The sections that will appear in every issue will consist of "Wise words from an educator," "Ten Majors Worthy of Consideration" and "How To Be Successful." "Wise Words from an Educator" will contain a new interview with an educator every issue, containing advice not only for managing high school, but also for college. This will be helpful for all students working on getting their high school and college diplomas, but especially the wide range of students who plan to become educators themselves. By gaining knowledge from educators of all backgrounds and ages, my readers will be able to gain insight into what it really takes to become a teacher or professor.
