Target Audience Research Seventeen

Seventeen
Seventeen Magazine is the largest monthly teen media brand, and is an incredibly popular magazine among an age group similar to the one I am targeting. Although Seventeen targets primarily females, and I am hoping to attract a more diversified audience gender wise, it is likely that young women who tend to plan ahead and prepare themselves thoroughly for their future are more likely to read my magazine than spontaneous high school guys, who aren't typically as interested in spending their free time reading about college applications and SAT requirements. Seventeen uses advertising techniques largely related to online platforms, including social media and by using seventeen.com, the largest teen magazine website. Seventeen is a strong digital leader, considering their successful website, Seventeen Now app, and their Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram that keeps teens updated on their product in a convenient way for their specific audience. Seventeen's publisher is Hearst magazine, which is the leading publisher of monthly magazines in terms of total paid circulation. The Hearst Corporation is one of the United State's biggest diversified media and information companies. The corporation has such well researched and well executed advertisement techniques that they are able to reach approximately 78 million readers each month. For Seventeen alone, the company generates about 15 million readers monthly. Using techniques similar to the ones Seventeen and Hearst uses will undoubtedly lead to a successful advertisement process for my magazine.
