Decision

After much consideration, I have determined that I will be creating a magazine for my project. The magazine will be student directed, it will include interviews with successful students, high school graduates who will walk the readers through college application and selection processes, as well as high school athletes who can provide an overview about the balance and determination it takes to be a student athlete. This magazine will be directed toward aspiring college students and current high school students who want to be provided with an opportunity to read about other students who have perhaps taken different approaches, and to therefore be able to get more of an idea about what type of major they may want, or what university and career path may suit them best. There are millions of high school students who feel overwhelmed by the college application process, on top of high school in general. This magazine will be geared toward assisting in making these highly regarded students feel better and more prepared about their future. Hopefully, it will also provide some insight on what it is like to be a high school student in multiple different environments and parts of the country. I have connections with high school students from multiple different states, so I can interview these bright students to provide relatable experiences that high schoolers all over the country face. The goal of my magazine will be to make high school and the college application process a little less stressful for high school students who are concerned for their future and want to lead successful lives with a proper education foundation.

Three Revisions

I have now uploaded the updated versions of all four of my original pages. My three primary revisions included changing the color of my title and all other major texts, such as my table of contents, the name of my interviewee Charles Karcher in my two-page article, and the "Application Season Issue" subtitle that illustrates the importance of this specific issue. The much needed change in color has provided a nice alternative element to my magazine that represents a more diverse and interesting environment as opposed to the very unexceptional black and white draft that I first created. By adding a nice, dark, yet professional crimson red, it not only further elevated the visual appeal of my magazine, but it also drew a further connection between the prestigious Harvard University by using their signature color as my main theme. Target Audience Research Teen Vogue

Teen Vogue Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue, The New Yorker, Wired, GQ, and Allure, publishes Teen Vogue.  The magazine is targeted for teenage girls between the ages of twelve and seventeen. It was first introduced to teens when the first issue was published in 2003, featuring Gwen Stefani. About 3.6 million readers are audience to the print magazines, including subscriptions and newsstands. The online website also generates an impressive audience. Social media accounts for 22.98% of website visits, proving that social media is a large part of the revenue of Teen Vogue. However, display advertising only accounts for 0.44% of website traffic, proving that teens prefer to search for websites or be referred to them by social media, specifically Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit.
